About the Knife:
This AD20.5 from Demko was used as a base for our new Collaboration project. A throw back to our "Eat or be Eaten" Spydiechef from a few years ago. Featuring a 20 layer anodizing process on both the show and back titanium scales depicting the epic three way battle between our archaic scuba diver, a shark and a giant squid. We have managed to even refine our process to pack so much more detail in this collaboration than any previous collaboration! The art flows into the 20CV blade featuring an oceanic blue Cerakote with small, cute bubbles laser engraved onto the surface.
The only thing you need to think about is whether you want to go with a "Shark Foot" or Drop Point blade with either either shipwrecked (aged) copper thumb stud or the OG stainless steel
Word from the Artist:
"Exploring the “Deep Dive 20.5”
Earlier this year, we ventured back into deep space. This time around, we return to the depths of the ocean for an epic (and admittedly ridiculous) battle between shark, man, and squid.
Designed as a successor to 2020’s “Scuba Chef,” the Deep Dive 20.5 continues our exploration beneath the sea through the eyes of a familiar figure—the vintage deep sea diver.
When we chose the AD20.5 as the platform for our latest collaboration, it seemed only natural to tie in the incredible technology (and name) of the shark lock into the overall concept. The Demko team has worked hard to develop an iconic tool with a unique fin-like mechanism, and that level of creative ingenuity inspired me to take this idea and personify it in a fun and vibrant way.
The show side scale depicts a wounded diver caught in a fierce battle between a shark and a giant squid, a nod to another one of our collaborations, the Kraken Kwaiken. On the clip side, you’ll find a diver who has lost his battle, surrounded by gory filigree and floating away from the damaged dive bell that delivered him to his ultimate demise.
Every time I have the opportunity to collaborate with NK, it pushes me to step outside the box and do my best to one-up my previous ideas. Let’s face it—these projects are WEIRD, but sometimes it’s good to get a little weird and not take ourselves too seriously!
As always, I want to thank all of you for the support and enthusiasm that make these projects possible. For more than five years, this community has been a home to me, and the genuine excitement and good vibes surrounding these projects genuinely mean the world."
Base Info on Knife:
The AD20.5 by Demko knives features an impressive Shark Lock and an even more impressive price point. After handling a plethora of MG AD20s, we can safely say that this is a very dutiful representation of that awesome mid-tech design. It's slightly smaller all-around and definitely thinner, which makes this much more suited for everyday carry than tactical encounters. The Shark Lock mechanism is situated on the spine of the knife and operated with a ramp-like ‘fin', allowing you to flip the blade open and closed at will. It's probably the best thing about this knife and design, how quickly it can be deployed and ready for action. It acts as a blade launcher and a little wrist action is all it needs. The AD20.5 is available in two variations, a clip point, and a shark foot sheepsfoot, and we really can't think of a way to improve either one.
